Black Executive Chair

A long standing joke in business has been that you could tell more about how your boss viewed your work if he ordered you a black executive chair than from any performance review. It has long been the symbol of a successful member of the management team. Oversized and until recently, expensive, it was reserved only for the upper echelon.

Now, however, more and more people are buying executive chairs for home offices as well as corporate workplaces. Affordable models are now plentiful, and there are a variety of fabric choices and options so that anyone can find just the right chair.

Leather remains a popular choice for black executive chairs. Soft and comfortable, leather cleans up easily and wears well, providing a personalized fit as it wears. Vinyl has the same qualities when it comes to cleaning, but some vinyl does not "breathe" very well, leading to hot spots on the chair. Fabric chairs are comfortable, but are a bit more difficult to clean. Cat owners also find them a bit more problematic, since they will attract hair which can be hard to remove from the nap.

You can find executive chairs with padded arms or highly polished wood ones. There are even some high-tech models that have chrome or stainless steel arms. Lumbar supports, some of them adjustable, are standard features on most executive chairs.

Other options include swivel and rocking motion. The degree the back will recline varies by models. Naturally, seat height is adjustable and the angle of the seat back is typically adjustable as well.

Because you can find an executive chair in so many different fabrics, different amounts of padding, and other options, it is best to actually sit in the chair before purchasing it. Many office supply stores have display models so that you can try several models before deciding on the one that is just right for you.

Try the chair on for size and see how it feels after you've been sitting for a few minutes. Make sure that all of the adjustments are sufficient to allow you to find the perfect fit. Look, also, for the special options you want, such as the ability to lock the rocking motion or adjust the lumbar support. And don't forget to try the armrests. Some of them are lined with upholstery brads which can be annoying to many people.

Whether you are shopping for your home or your office, take a little time to select your black executive chair carefully. If you choose wisely, it will last for many years, which translates into a lot of time you will spend sitting in it. A few extra minutes to decide can mean years of satisfaction.
