Uses for Kitchen Barstools
These are real heydays for those making and selling kitchen barstools. The recent housing boom and low interest rates in the U.S. have resulted in more home ownership than ever before. Along with this general trend, kitchens have been expanding in size in newer homes. More and more folks want a kitchen that they can spread out in and that provides a lot of surface space to cook and to eat.
In keeping with larger kitchens, breakfast nooks and small dining tables with matching barstools have seen a huge popularity growth. There are many designs from which to choose, depending on your preference and the layout of the kitchen in your home.
Among the more popular are barstools made to be used with kitchen/dining area overhang counters. They are taller than standard stools, and tend to have seatbacks, no arms, and stationary seats. Wrought iron is a popular frame material, with heavy fabric seats that have a lot of cushioning. The iron is malleable enough to be worked into beautiful patterns, and sturdy enough to hold its shape and stand up to repeated use.
Another popular barstool design for use in the kitchen is a small set that goes with a minimalist breakfast table. These stools are on the short side and tend to be more like basic seating. Often, the entire set-up (table and chairs) can be stored in a closet or pantry when not in use to make room for needed cooking space.
More and more homeowners are forgoing full dining table sets in other rooms for kitchen tables with matching barstools. It's a natural outgrowth of the trend toward bigger kitchens. It's just more convenient in an increasingly busy world.
For busy cooks who spend a lot of time every day in the kitchen, try a tall standard barstool without arms or a seatback. Get a well-cushioned seat and make sure it's light enough to move around frequently. Then just take a well-earned break occasionally as you cook by having a seat now and then. The tallness will make it easier to take a load off without having to sit all the way down in a chair.
