Swivel Bar Stools

Bar stools come in many different styles and designs. One of the things to look for is whether the seat on a bar stool you're considering buying swivels or is stationary. Depending on the use you intend for your new stools, swivel seats are often the better choice for a variety of reasons.

The biggest reason for choosing swivel bar stools is convenience. In virtually any instance where a stationary bar seat is adequate, a swivel seat will work as well or better. However, when you really want to use bar stools with swivel seats, you're stuck if you only own those with stationary seats.

In bars and restaurants, swivel stools just make good business sense. You want your bar patrons to be comfortable when they eat, drink, and chat with friends and new acquaintances. Sticking them with stationary stools forces them to physically turn their entire bodies and the chair in order to talk with someone sitting behind or to either side of them. A swivel stool makes things easier and, therefore, keeps your clientele happier. Happy customers mean more repeat business!

For those who sit in stools for their work (artists, drafters, sculptors), a swivel seat is a must. Not only does it provide more convenient access to supplies, it's more comfortable for long-term sitting. Changing positions while seated is something we all do without even realizing it. This is more difficult in a stationary chair, and can even lead to aches and pains.

Shorter swivel bar stools are a good choice for use at a desk if you work in an office setting. If you keep your office supplies nearby, it's much more convenient to simply swivel and grab something while remaining seated. Likewise, using the phone, fax, or printer will no longer require standing up and moving.

The name of the game is convenience. Swivel stools make more sense for most uses, and they don't typically cost more than those with stationary seats do.
