Breakfast Bar Stools
Many busy people eat a quick breakfast to start their days. The days of setting a full table and having a big, hearty breakfast are gone for a lot of folks. This trend has resulted in more people employing breakfast bars and the accompanying stools as they wolf down a quick bowl of cold cereal or a couple of pieces of toast.
Breakfast bars are very handy items, especially in small apartments, condos, or even homes with smaller kitchens. They are collapsible and often roll on wheels for convenient portability. You can make your breakfast over by the counter and kitchen appliances, set the bar's table, and roll it over to your stools for an intimate, quick breakfast before your busy day begins.
The bar itself tends to be shorter than your kitchen counters, so breakfast bar stools also tend to be shorter. They usually run about 20 inches in height, to accommodate a table height of about 30 inches. Wood is a preferred material - for both the bar and the stools. Lightweight woods make the best materials, as long as they are sturdy and durable.
Stools for breakfast bars are usually of simple design, meant to provide a practical seating solution without any bells and whistles. 100% wood is probably the most common, although you can get fancier stools that have padded vinyl seats for improved comfort. This is not a bad idea if you have the budget and if you tend to use the stools more often than for a quick breakfast every day. The stools, being shorter than most, can be used for various other purposes, so keep that in mind as you shop for a breakfast bar set.
Most breakfast bars and stools are designed to match and are often of a very simple design. You can get them in natural or painted/stained wood to match your kitchen or breakfast nook décor. While built primarily to provide a practical function, there's no reason why you can't find a breakfast bar set that will enhance the beauty of your kitchen.
