Bar Height Stools

Stools generally come in variable heights depending on the intended use. There are short stools that can comfortably accommodate young kids and medium height stools that are suited for household environments. The bar height stool is a slightly taller than usual stool which always comes in heights that are frequently used in bars and restaurant counters. Bar stools are generally taller meaning that when refer to bar height stools, we must be talking about stools that have heights similar to those of bar stools.

In order to establish what height to look out for when we talk about stools that have bar stool heights, it is important to start by knowing what the general height of a bar stool should be. The universally accepted height for bar stools is about 30 inches. As such, bar height stools should be designed with this height in mind. The main reason why the bar height stools should be about 30 inches tall is because they are generally used along side table tops that are about 40 to 42 inches in height and therefore the table and the stool should be able to complement each other in terms of giving the person seating on the stool the allowance he/she needs to feel comfortable when perched on the stool.

The bar height stool is available in different sizes, styles and designs depending on the intended use. For bar height stools that are meant for use at home or in offices, it is always preferable to include an upholstered seating to give the user the soft cushioning that can guarantee the comfort to use the stool over a long duration without feeling the hardness of the seating surface. There are many different materials that can be used to upholster the stool seat. The most commonly used materials are leather and other synthetic materials that also give the stool seat a beautiful look besides the much needed comfort.

Besides the upholstery on the stool's seat, some bar height stools are also equipped with an extended back to give the user a back rest so that the user can feel more comfortable so that seating on the bar height stool does not feel like some sort of punishment. Materials used to make the bar height stools also vary from metal to wood or in most cases a cocktail of both. The combination of both wood and metal has gained prominence over the single use of either of the materials since it is always stable and easy to make the legs with metal and then make the seat using wood. This kind of blending makes a winning combination that provides beauty and durability as well as comfort.
